A Year in Review 2022- Toronto Wedding Planner

What a year 2022 has been. After a slower 2020 and 2021, it was nice to see the wedding business pick up this year. For Events by Sarah Megan, it was the busiest year to date with nine weddings with amazing couples. I could not be more grateful to have been a part of these lovely people's special day.

New Years Eve Themed Wedding

The wedding season kicked off for Events by Sarah Megan in early March, with a wedding that had to be rescheduled from NYE 2021. Thankfully the weather cooperated, especially for those driving into the city. S&J held their wedding at York Mills Gallery. S&J chose to have an evening ceremony with a cocktail reception filled with delicious food and lots of dancing. It was great to see this wedding come together with some amazing vendors after over a year of planning.

S&J kicked off their wedding day with doing a first look that included their dog Cannoli. How cute is that?! After the fun of photos with family and the bridal party, it was time for the evening wedding ceremony. Décor included candles and greenery lining the aisle, balloons on the ceiling by Balloontrix and a floral wedding ceremony arch from MP Decors. After a quick room flip during cocktails, it was time to get the evening started. S&J had a lovely first dance followed by speeches from family members. It was then time to open the dance floor. Sole Power was brilliant with their song choices that kept people dancing until the end of the evening.

Multi-Day May Long Weekend Wedding

Events by Sarah Megan's second wedding of the season took place over the May long weekend in Toronto. H&C wanted help with Wedding Day Management as they were going to be hosting a two day wedding. The first day was to be an intimate ceremony with 12 of their closest friends and family, followed by a lovely dinner at a restaurant. Earlier in the day, H&C did their first look in their beautiful backyard, followed by some stops around the city for wedding portraits.

The following day proved to be quite interesting due to some inclement weather. The weather that day in surrounding areas ranged from intense thunderstorms to even a Tornado. Thankfully for H&C the intense weather took place before their cocktail-like wedding reception. For H, instead of finding a second dress to wear, she found a seamstress that agreed to alter her wedding dress overnight. The dress was shortened and turned into a fabulous cocktail style dress. How cool is that?! It was a fantastic evening filled with delicious food provided by Toben Catering and a great dance party!

Spring Weddings in Ontario

In June, I had the honour of working with two lovely couples. The first June wedding was P&J, who I worked with leading up to their intimate wedding. This wedding was so sweet and personable with only 32 guests invited. For this Oshawa wedding, the ceremony was scheduled to be outside in a lovely grassy area. About 20 minutes before the start of the ceremony we had to make a quick rain plan and move everything indoors due to an approaching thunderstorm. We got everything inside within minutes to spare before the downpour and lightning hit. The backup plan for this intimate ceremony was still so lovely. With a quick flip of the space, the reception was set and ready to go. The evening was filled with delicious food, and many cherished moments.

Later in June, M&C said their I Do’s in an intimate backyard wedding. These two chose my Full Plan Wedding package so I worked with them quite a bit leading up to their day. They wanted to celebrate with friends and family with amazing food and lots of dancing. So, we planned a beautiful backyard wedding ceremony in their backyard. After the ceremony, everyone proceeded to the front of the property where the Travelling Tow Bar was ready to go with refreshing beverages and Three-Six Kitchen provided a variety of delicious finger foods. Later in the evening, M&C surprised their guests with an ice cream truck! This was the perfect way to get the party started.

A Canada Day Wedding at Penryn Park

This Penryn Park wedding for K&T was a blast to organize! The Canada Day Wedding included lots of personalized details from tables named after their favourite destinations, a globe as their guest book and a mouth watering cake with a map on it, it was a travellers dream wedding. During the ceremony, K&T opted to do a joint painting representing their lives joining together. This was such a unique and fantastic idea for a keepsake. Later in the evening, PSP Entertainment provided some amazing tunes that kept guests on the dance floor. Just before the Canada Day fireworks, K&T had a romantic sparkler exit. What a fun way to celebrate Canada Day and your anniversary by getting married on July 1st.

Private Estate Wedding

After K&T's wedding, I had a bit of a break to rest and recuperate in preparation for my next Full Wedding Planning couple. In August, N&E had an intimate private estate wedding for 50 people behind their century old home. It was the perfect August day for a summer wedding in Ontario. After a heartfelt ceremony, guests were invited to enjoy a beverage, mingle and play some lawn games. One of my favourite parts of the evening was a fun game that the couple had created for their guests. During the reception each guest table was encouraged to answer questions about the couple. Each question revealed just how well you knew the couple or a way for you to find out more details about them. Everyone had a great time!

A Bohemian Wedding Ceremony

The following weekend it was S&M turn to say I Do. The couple had done the majority of their wedding planning but were concerned about everything coming together on the day of. That is where I came in. They had gathered up an amazing group of vendors which helped the day come together beautifully. The ceremony was filled with simple and elegant Bohemian wedding ceremony decor. A scrumptious buffet, heartfelt speeches and a live band made up a fantastic evening. S&M did their first dance to one of my favourite songs - Noah Reid's "Simply The Best".

A Gothic Halloween-Themed Wedding

September brought on a little break that allowed me to enjoy some fall activities. In October, I worked with M&B for their wedding on a family property in Lindsay, Ontario. This wedding was a lot of fun to plan as it was a gothic, Halloween themed wedding and with a family I have already worked with. Three years ago, I had the opportunity to work with M&B’s cousins for their wedding on the same property. For this wedding the bride did all the florals, including the bouquets, floral wedding ceremony arch, and centerpieces. As the groom was a tattoo artist they gave out stick on tattoos for all the guests to enjoy. During the cocktail hour, there was a slushy machine, charcuterie board and lawn games. Later in the evening the guests enjoyed a buffet dinner, open bar and some awesome tunes that kept the dance floor full.

A Fall Wedding in Uxbridge, Ontario

The last wedding of the season was really special to me. For R&D's wedding, not only was I their wedding planner but I was also a bridesmaid. I have known the bride since we were three years old so I was incredibly honoured to be a part of their wedding.  Since the bride and groom live out of province, they wanted a little extra help planning their wedding.

R&D’s wedding took place on a perfect fall day. The day started with a beautiful church wedding ceremony in Uxbridge, Ontario. Outside, the church steps were lined with stunning florals that made the perfect backdrop for photos. The reception was held at Deer Creek Golf Club in Ajax, Ontario. To ensure R&D got to say hi to all their guests, they held a receiving line where each group of guests had their photo taken with the couple along with a shot of rum or vodka. To start the reception, R&D kicked things off with a choreographed dance that was fantastic. It was so much fun and represented the two of them perfectly. After filling up on a four-course meal, everyone gathered on the dance floor for a centrepiece giveaway game that had guests doing a dance-off. Afterwards guest  continuing to dance the night away.

2022 was an amazing wedding season and was by far my busiest year to date. Helping couples plan their weddings is my outlet - it relaxes me and allows me to put my love of organizing and working with people to good use. It is such an honour to be trusted by my couple and their families and to have a role in their important day. In 2022 I got to work with nine amazing couples, I wish I could share more from each of their special days. So, be sure to check out more photos from their Ontario weddings in my portfolio. Thank you to the incredible Ontario wedding vendors and my amazing family that helped me through this busy year. I cannot wait to see what 2023 bring for weddings.
